Several sources suggest that GTA 6 will have a weapon inventory in the style of Alan Wake 2 or Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead of always having all the weapons on your body, players have to choose a small selection.
Only a few more weeks until the first trailer for GTA 6 will flicker across millions of screens. Thanks to leaks, there are already the first supposed details about the gameplay of the long-awaited sequel. Specifically, it is about the weapon system, which is said to have undergone a complete overhaul.

This is how weapon selection supposedly works in GTA 6
The information that could be classified as a rumor was put out into the world by the Rockstar Universe portal. A short time later, GTA News claimed that they could confirm the alleged leak. And the insiders’ statements actually sound realistic: “The inventory/weapon selection in Alan Wake 2 is reportedly very similar to GTA 6. You will be limited to the weapons you can carry, similar to Alan Wake 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2.”

So players have to choose a small selection of weapons when embarking on a mission. In the old parts you always had all the murder tools with you and could change them using the selection wheel. It’s definitely a step towards more realism, which may not be well received by all fans. If you want, you can carry additional weapons in a bag or in the trunk of a car. Something similar is also possible in RDR 2 with the horse.
The first trailer for GTA 6 is scheduled to be shown in December (there are currently two possible dates circulating ). Since Rockstar usually separates the announcement from the release by around a year, a release can be expected at the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025. Rockstar Universe, who have already leaked the upcoming announcement, believes that Rockstar will no longer make it next year and that the title will not come onto the market until 2025 .
