OnePlus: My Experience With Stable OxygenOS 14
I got stable Oxygen 14 with Oxygen Updater. The update itself went well. Which it has been with Oxygen Updater. Never failed.
Been using it for days now. For the first release of Oxygen 14, I am Murad more positive than I Honestly expected. I was ready for a really bad experience. I have experienced some bugs. Sadly some that were also presented in Oxygen 13 that still not been fixed. Even after I have sent bug reports.
What I have noticed that I liked:
1. Fonts look way more polished than before. Visual all around is better. Also settings.
2. Refresh rate can now also be set per App. Which I like.
3. Settings look more polished.
4. I normally like Google Apps over others on Android. Which I use most of the time. I am surprised by the OnePlus Picture/Album App. It’s now way better than on Oxygen 13. General OnePlus own Apps now on Oxygen 14 are better than on 13. Before I used to not like like it at all.
5. I like Dynamic Island on Oxygen 14. For the Apps that support it. It works great. I hope it will support more Apps coming updates.
6. There are some Android 14 future that work ok on Oxygen 14. Like taking text from pictures etc. Imagine this will get better.
My Experience With Stable OxygenOS 14
Some bugs and what needs to improve:
1. The Dynamic icon still does not work on Oxygen 14. It did not work on Oxygen 13 either. Even after I send a bug report. No matter if it is OnePlus’s icon theme or others. I have tested on Smart Launcher were example Google Carlander change. I hope OnePlus improves it. It’s annoying.
2. The Weather App, OnePlus owns is a hit-and-miss. Also, I have sent a bug report to OnePlus. In some locations, it picks perfectly, and in others, it’s not the closest. Why move to the 1weather App instead?
3. Notification now is weird. It feels way too large. Let’s say download apk with Google Chrome. I need to scroll too long even to see it. It was better on Oxygen 13.
4. Oxygen 14 uses more RAM. I know it does not need to be something bad. It can even be a good thing. I am not sure if it’s something bad or good for my device right now.
5. Even if the Camera App has got some visual changes. Which I like. The Camera App is still crap. I honestly do not know why OnePlus has this bad Camera App. It’s not a hardware issue. Hardware-wise OnePlus Camera Specs on the OnePlus 11 are good. Sadly Camera App cannot use it well. What makes Pixel phones unique when it comes to Camera/Video is not the hardware itself. It’s how Pixel processes things with its App. Even Pixel phones hardware-wise cannot even compete with OnePlus. I hope OnePlus improves on the Camera App and how things are processed.
I know some have got worse Battery life with Oxygen 14. I have personally noticed a little drop in SOT. It’s not bad but not equal to good as the last Oxygen 13 build. What happened to the Trinity engineer that was supposed to boost things?
