AMD’s 5800X3D once again easily defeats Intel’s Core i9-12900KF
The AMD gaming king 5800X3D is the latest flagship Ryzen 7 processor and is set to release on April 20th. Our review embargo will lift on April 14th. It’s claimed to be the fastest gaming processor available today.
While we’ve yet to compare it to the Core i9-12900K, it is still a direct competitor of Intel’s chip, the Core i7-12700K. The AMD chip falls into a similar price range as Intel’s chip, so let’s take a look at its performance and features.

AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor is the first to use 3D V-Cache technology and has been rated as 15% faster than the previous-generation Ryzen 9-5900X. Its larger L3 cache and wider bus width enable it to outperform Intel’s flagship Core i9-12900KF in gaming benchmarks.
While the AMD 5800X3D is not intended for content creation, it does boast the same core architecture as the 5800X and an additional 2GB of RAM. It will be available in Spring 2022 and a few months later. AMD’s desktop Ryzen 7000 series processors will follow soon.
While Intel’s chip has better performance overall, AMD’s chip is designed primarily for gamers. This is demonstrated by the fact that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D outperforms Intel’s Core i9-12900KF in nearly every game. In fact, AMD’s chip outperforms Intel’s flagship CPU in all but one game, Strange Brigade.
In AMD’s review, the 5800X3D performs better than the Core i9-12900KF, despite having lower clock speeds. It beats Intel’s flagship chip in five out of six games and easily dispatches it by as much as 29% in Final Fantasy 15. The AMD chip consistently maintains a 10-to-15 percent advantage over the Core i9 throughout the entire benchmark. This might be a result of the additional cache available in the Ryzen 5800X3D.
Despite the fact that the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is not available yet, it is being reported as the world’s fastest gaming processor. AMD’s new chip is not directly comparable to Intel’s Core i9-12900KF but is priced at the same price point. However, it has a number of advantages that rival Intel’s flagship chip.

While the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is significantly cheaper than Intel’s Core i9-12900F, the Intel CPU will always remain the top-end choice in gaming. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D will retail for $449 USD and will likely be the last AMD chip to use the AM4 platform. AMD’s flagship Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor is set to retail for $449 US when it launches in April.
AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor has been tested with both 1080p and 720p games to see if it is capable of beating the Core i9-12900K. AMD’s benchmarks were published by Xanxo Gaming, which purchased the AMD 5800X3D at retail. It is also about $100 cheaper than Intel’s Core i9-12900KF, which is still the best CPU in gaming.

This isn’t surprising, given the AMD test methodology favors AMD. While Intel’s chip is slightly faster than the AMD processor, it can benefit from faster DDR5 RAM.
The 96MB L3 stacked cache of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D allows it to keep pace with Intel in most gaming tests, and even win by a margin. AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D scored a remarkable 217 frames per second in Final Fantasy XV, while the Intel Core i9-12900KF trailed at 168 FPS. Further, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D easily dispatched Intel’s Core i9-12900KF in a series of benchmarks, and it’s worth the purchase.
Despite AMD’s lack of overclocking support and nerfed clock speeds, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is an excellent gaming CPU. For those with a small budget and the patience to wait for newer models, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is an excellent choice. AMD Ryzen 7000 series should also come down in price.
AMD’s latest AM4 processor is expected to be available from April 20. While the Core i9-12900K is Intel’s top processor, it does not directly compete with it. In fact, the chip’s main rival is the Core i7-12700K, which is in the same price range as the AMD chip.
Both processors have impressive graphics capabilities, and AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D is considerably cheaper. It costs $449 USD compared to Intel’s Core i9-12900KF. Both platforms share the same GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Founder’s Edition GPU. AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D has more cache than the Core i9-12900KF.
While Intel has been the leader of the PC industry for many years, the company is struggling to maintain its dominance in the desktop space. With AMD and ARM entering the mobile space, Intel’s lead is eroding. Furthermore, the company’s previous moves in ultramobile and smartphones have made it difficult for Intel to compete with AMD.
