Another patent from Sony details a pretty awesome feature that may one day come to the PS5!
In the last few years we have repeatedly reported on Sony’s current patents , which sometimes sound pretty crazy – but could also occasionally provide a glimpse into the future of Playstation . The latest patent, which was published a few days ago by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is now quite realistic. It has the official title “Content Streaming with Gameplay Launch” and introduces an exciting function for PS5 and Co.

What does the patent describe?
Specifically, this new feature is about providing a game with several “trigger points” that can be activated for immediate entry into the game . So if you want to relive a specific point in an adventure, you can search for the moment in a gameplay clip and then dive straight into the game with just the push of a button . The hardware determines the required game data and takes you to the desired point.
Is the function implemented?
As with all other patents, we don’t know if this feature will ever be implemented. So in principle it could be that we have now seen this function for the first and last time.
Maybe trigger points will one day be available on PS5 (buy now for €549.00) or a successor play an important role. As usual, Sony officials will not comment on the matter.
